Care should be taken in what comes in contact with the pieces. Wax must be quality paraffin, beeswax candles or even soy wax could be used. The low quality waxes are not preferred as they become pretty difficult to remove. Always make sure that any liquids such as wine, juice or vinegar do not sit for long periods of time. Serving such liquids in these wonderful glasses is just fine but it is necessary to rinse them immediately.

Never use antique crystal glassware which has a powdery white outer coating which is caused by lead leaching out of the item. These glasses are not to be used for drinking. To be thoroughly cleaned requires a professional polishing as well as grinding which is necessary for removing any residue.
